BY TAXI

AIRPORT BY ROAD

Living close to an airport? A taxi is a viable option: comfortable, no driving stress and direct to the terminal drop off point so no problems with parking or transfer from a car park. The fare could be less than the cost of airport parking.

Allow for possible traffic delays: missing your flight will be a bad start.

BY CAR

Driving to the airport on the day can be stressful, especially if there are traffic problems. You must allow extra time for parking and transfer from car park to terminal (with more luggage handling). Fuel cost and parking fees could cost more than hiring a taxi.

BY TRAIN

There are local bus and coach services to many regional airports and London Heathrow.  Details are usually given on airport web sites.

London area is particularly well served but local services elsewhere are sparse.

The Gatwick Flyer and The Stansted Flyer operate door-to-door services for those airports from south Essex and parts of Kent and Surrey.

easyBus* operates airport bus services from central London to Luton, Gatwick and Stansted and runs transfers to them from Heathrow (in combination with London Underground). Fares are from £2.00 one way.

easyBus can be used by anyone - no need to be a passenger with easyJet or any other airline.

No flights to Crete from your local airport ? Flight days unsuitable?

Flying to another UK airport could be an economical proposition. Fares to Crete from Gatwick and Stansted are often cheaper than those from more distant airports and can offset the cost of an internal flight.

Example: There are no flights from Edinburgh direct to Crete but many from Gatwick. BA and easyJet both offer competitive fares from Edinburgh to Gatwick.

On 02/12/2011 a Thomas Cook flight Glasgow/Heraklion return for 5 - 19 June 2012 was cost £350. For the same dates easyJet Edinburgh/Gatwick + Gatwick/Heraklion return could have been booked for £289.

Other routes may be found on airports’ web sites under “Destinations”. For more detail go to the “Flights” page.
